Our farmhouse cellar in Rapho Township still has a dirt floor in one section. Can that even be drained?

Yes, and it's common out there. We set the drain line at footing depth in the dirt section and pour a proper apron over it, which gives you a working floor and a drainage path in the same afternoon. The stone walls usually get looked at in the same visit, because on a cellar that age they're part of the same problem.

Water pools in one corner of the cellar and nowhere else. Why that corner?

Because limestone moves water along a channel and hands it over at a single point. Soil would spread it around; this rock does it all in one place. On a deep Manheim cellar that point is almost always the low corner, since the floor was never poured level to begin with. A corner-sized patch won't hold, because the next storm can open a different channel.

How deep can you dig if the cellar is already eight feet down?
